Making depth conversions more reliable has become an obsession for a dedicated geophysicist. As a result the Norwegian consultancy Aker Geo now claims to have the very best tool to convert from time domain to depth domain.
The Norwegian Sea continental margin is dominated by the deep-water Vøring and Møre basins, which contain thick Cretaceous and Tertiary fills. To the east lie the Halten Terrace, Nordland Ridge and Trøndelag Platform, with a cover of Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous sediments.
The Norwegian Sea covers more than
200 000 km2 of highly prospective acreage
with many proven discoveries of Mezosoicand
Cenozoic age. The large shelf area
can be divided into three sub-regions.
A deeply buried reservoir – characterised by ultrahigh pore pressures and temperatures – represent a major challenge for both petroleum and drilling engineers. To minimise risk and maximise the collaborative efforts within the project team the operator focuses strongly on integration.
